The characteristic qualities and effects of incised, scratched or etched lines or texture have never been sufficient, no matter how brilliant the execution, hence the application of various modifications in technique, etc.
In the context of incised plate printing, the term "etching" usually refers to the action of attacking lines, etc... With acid on a metal plate as to the inked print on paper that is pulled from the surface of that plate.....
